About

Personal notes of a system administrator. Mostly Linux: things I have to look up too often, checklists I re-read before touching anything, and the occasional write-up of an incident once it is over and I can think straight about it.

How it is written

Notes are written for future me, which is why they start from the symptom instead of the theory and stop as soon as the answer is there. Manuals are longer and follow the order the work is actually done in, including the parts that bite. Where a version or a date is stated, it is the one something was tested on, not a claim about every system.

What is not here

No comments, no accounts, no analytics, no third-party scripts. Nothing is tracked and nothing is personalised. The pages are static files, so there is also nothing here that can log you in, set a cookie or follow you to another site.

Why it is public

Notes kept in a private wiki have a habit of becoming unreadable and then lost. Putting them here costs nothing, and writing something for a stranger to read is a cheap test of whether the note is actually correct.

Nothing is for sale

No affiliate links, no sponsored posts, no product recommendation disguised as personal experience. If a tool is named, it is named because it was used.
